Dear Friends,
It was great to visit the RCCI in November and see all the new initiatives in person.
Travel training, a key focus of our independence and work readiness programme, is moving forward at a pace. All the students now spend time in the workshop learning new skills that also drive the RCCI’s sustainability goals forward. Hashan is training for employment at Vision Care and the RCCI Team has been liaising with his colleagues to prepare him for the role. Varsha is back at the RCCI after 2 years of online-only participation.
Most of all, it was brilliant to be among old friends and much valued colleagues.
Despite the hardships brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and Sri Lanka’s financial crisis earlier this year, the RCCI has not merely survived but thrived. Ranjula, Nayanalie and Nazly have shown amazing leadership and dedication in trying circumstances. We are incredibly proud of the team we have built; one which is capable, resilient and diverse. We are excited to be looking beyond traditional diversity by building a truly inclusive workplace that represents neurodiversity as well.
We look forward to new members joining our team in 2023 so that we can expand our services to include even more learners!
Happy Holidays!
